CRANE ANTI-COLLISION SYSTEM
Enhances safety on site and contributes to productivity

An anti-collision and zone protection system for tower cranes was introduced by Dragages in 1999 to all its building sites.

The French manufactured SMIE AC30 system manages the interfaces between cranes through radio communication, preventing the risk of collision in crane 'interference' areas, and inhibiting over-flying of sensitive areas such as roads.

It is quick to install with minimal interruption to tower crane operations, and operators need only one hour of training to become familiar with the system. It can be fitted to all crane types and brands.
Dragages Building Works Director Jean-Pierre Lefoul says that the system offers many benefits: "Currently tower crane safety is very much reliant on the crane operators themselves, and their ability to communicate with each other and see clearly at all times what is happening in front, below and behind them. This system removes the risk of human factor error, which greatly enhances safety

"It also contributes to productivity on site by allowing operators to work at maximum safe speed and optimising the use of cranes within a single loading area.
